Mr. Anthony,

I had to send a note of praise for your staff at The Summit! I led a women's retreat in the Community Room on Saturday, February 10 and couldn't have been happier with how everything was handled!

Approximately 50 women attended our retreat and enjoyed a day full of fellowship, music, prayer and praise - as well as delicious food (catered by the Deli at the mall). We prayed for you and the success of the regrowth of the mall. Many left sharing stories of how they felt blessed for having spent the day together.

Your maintenance team were superb - while I was setting up, they made sure everything went smoothly; when I needed the garbage emptied, they were there immediately; when I was taking down, they asked if all my needs were met. All prearrangements went very smoothly with my dealings with Peter Green.

I was able to participate at the "Her Song" concert and coffeehouse on March 10th. Our next retreat is on Saturday June 9th. We feel that this is just the beginning of our relationship with The Summit.

Sincerely,
Kathleen Ordiway

Hi, Jim:

Hope you are doing well. Sorry you couldn't make it to our Anniversary Party, as it was a lot of fun for everyone.

Ron was kind enough to let me use the mall's PA system which helped, the last couple of years my voice went hoarse after trying to yell for everyone to hear me. This was much easier. Please pass on what a wonderful job Maintenance did on getting everything set up for our Party. Debby, Michelle, Randy, Don, and Gary worked hard making sure all the 8 foot tables (15 total) and 4 cafe tables along with numerous chairs were set up for us along with the PA system, which worked perfectly. Sue and Julie are always so willing to go the extra mile to help out. Also, several store owners asked if they could help us out with our party, which was so much appreciated. Donnie "Brendan" from Omega Sports, offered to help and he really did help us out quite a bit by even participating as one of the Star Wars characters, "Darth Vader", which I couldn't stress helped me out, as the Storm Trooper I paid kept his commitment to ToyWorld but the rest of them had a convention, and Omega helped produce a few more characters than what I had hired.

Poor Dominic wanted so much to make the party, but he is so busy trying to get new stores to come to The Summit. Georgia stopped by however, and gave her blessings and warm wishes. Is is a great feeling knowing that everyone always seems to pull together when you need them.

Just wanted to let you know. Our customers stressed how much they truly enjoyed themselves, and several of them came in families. Many of them left The Summit with wonderful prizes and a fun filled day of memories.

From Deb Shops

When I initially decided to return to the Summit Mall just over 5 years ago many people were shocked and some even laughed. Many thought it was a poor career choice. At the time I thought it was just the idea of a challenge driving me. Or possibly the belief that the Deb Shop in that mall could be much more profitable and highly successful. However over the years I have learned that it was so much more.

I wholeheartedly believe that things happen for a reason that we are compelled and led by a higher power. In this case I was led to the Summit for a much deeper more meaningful reason then to make a large corporation more money. I was led here to not only enhance my professional life but more importantly my personal life.

Some may not understand my thinking on this one and some may think I have lost my mind. However, I have grown so much as a person and learned not only so much about myself but about life and faith in general. I have so many people to thank for my growth and happiness here. I have seen how people that don't even really know me can make such a difference in my life. I have new "Family" in my life; my Summit Family. For that I will eternally be thankful.

Who say's you can't have your cake and eat it to. Not only have I enhanced my career and proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Deb Shops / Tops'nBottoms can be wildly successful at The Summit but I also have made some wonderful life lasting friendships that I will cherish for ever.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Mundy, Manager
Deb Shop

It has been almost 2 years now since I followed my dream and opened up my own business (The Krow’s Nest) at The Summit. People could not believe that I was going to do something like this let alone do something of such great magnitude and such great risk at a place that had become nothing more than an ongoing joke. We all heard the jokes and we all heard the comments: "Did you hear that so and so left the Summit mall? When are they going to close that place because there is nothing in there anyway?" Everyone had heard the negatives, everyone had contributed to them. But I believed in myself and I believed in this place, and I still do.

But the place needed a new direction and a new beginning. To everyone’s amazement that new beginning and new direction came from a person that lived almost 700 miles away. That’s right... not a local businessman that remembered the glory of the past, but someone far away that accepted this as a personal challenge, to turn the mall around and return it to even better standing. We all know the name of that individual, it is Jim Anthony and it is he that truly believes that this place, renamed The Summit can become something greater than it ever was, and I also truly believe as well.

The new Summit is now growing each and every day, with new stores coming in, and new hopes on the horizon. We all know the popular show Extreme Makeover, which usually takes a single household and creates a new beginning for a family. The Summit under the guidance of Jim Anthony has had its own extreme makeover, and it is not only a new beginning for a family, it is a new beginning for a whole community. A community that has always been the target for attacks and ridicule for past failures, a community that needed something to support, and once again provide that great feeling of HOPE.

Hope now springs eternal at the new Summit. I have faced many obstacles and trials in my short time of operation, but I know that a greater power has brought me here, and keeps me here. No matter what anyone’s faith or morals or beliefs may be, there is surely something that is SPECIAL going on here, and I can’t think of a better place for me to be. I have a new family as well, and that family is the people of The Summit, under the guidance and direction of Jim and his people around him. The future is still scary for some of us, but with the friendships that have been created, and the hopes, beliefs, and directions that have been placed before us, I feel my place is right where it is... at home, at The Summit.
